What’s On Your Wall?: Chelsea O’Byrne, Illustrator

Welcome to What’s On Your Wall?, a series that explores the studio walls of the artists who inspire us.

Simple, whimsical, and sometimes even a little bit eerie, Chelsea’s work combines the naivete of children’s book illustrations with a 1984-esque dystopian flair. Explore the Vancouver-based illustrator’s studio wall – filled with inspiring books and the work of her friends – below:

I work in my home, and some of my favourite things to surround myself with are lots of inspiring books. Some of my favourite art books are (clockwise from top left) This Is Paris by M. Sasek, Frida by Isiuchi, Sara Midda‘s South of France, and On Board Noah’s Ark by Ludwig Bemelmans.

Having artwork made by my friends hanging in my work space makes me feel happy and motivated. Clockwise from top left, the artists on my wall right now are Ben Hawkins, Madeline Kloepper, Jane Q Cheng, and Minjoo Kim.
