Welcome to What’s On Your Wall?, an ongoing series exploring the creative domestic spaces of the artists that inspire us. (But mostly, it’s our excuse to sneak a peek into the homes and studios of artists from all over the world.)
Illustrator Julia Bereciartu‘s artwork gracefully applies all the fuzzy nostalgia of the TV cartoons we grew up to the day-to-day life of the average twenty-something. Wide-eyed, well-dressed, and often bespectacled, Julia’s illustrated characters begrudgingly exercise, dance in their underwear, and eat junk food in bed with their cats. For this edition of What’s On Your Wall?, we were surprised to see just how many pieces of artwork on Julia’s walls at her home studio in Madrid were those of her contemporaries. With the exception of a single postcard from Edward Hopper, most of the artists on Julia’s walls are currently young artists and creatives like herself. Check out her extensive collection of artwork (and discover some new artists) below:

Artists who inspire me (both old & new): The list is super diverse, but I’d say that I’m inspired by vintage photography, Picasso’s pencil drawings, Edward Hopper, Quentin Blake, Adrian Tomine, Rumiko Takahashi, Daniel Clowes, and Lucy Knisley, among many others. And of course, all the artists featured on my wall.
