Holiday Gift Guide: Eva Magill-Oliver

Welcome to the annual Classic Specs Holiday Gift Guide, where we tap some of our favorite artists and creatives to share what’s on their wishlist this year. Our second guide comes from North Carolina-based multi-media artist Eva Magill-Oliver, whose work is inspired by the organic silhouettes and shapes of nature – and this shines through in her stunning abstract paintings. Her guide below is a mix of artisan gifts made by those who, as she says, clearly love what they do.

To help kick things off, Eva’s giving away an original painting from her collection! Click the link below to for a chance to win your very own Rainbow Series painting from Eva to frame and hang up on your wall.

MEET Artist Eva Magill-Oliver:

So excited to be able to share with you some of my favorite products and designs that no will no doubt make perfect holiday gifts. This gift selection is so special to me because I wanted to showcase and talk about these wonderful products, but also to share the amazing artisans and creators behind them. All of the gifts selected embody what it means to be an artisan – craftsmanship, beauty, and skill. Love for what they do is clearly reflected in each piece.

1. Shelter Protects You | The Leather Soleri Tote

I am a sucker for oversized bags. Especially beautifully crafted and detailed bags like this gorgeous tote designed by Asheville friend and talented artisan Karie Reinertson. The braided handles and roomy size make this bag the perfect everyday accessory, both thoughtful and practical.

2. Ashley English | Handmade Gatherings

Ashley is a master of creating amazing dishes and seasonal crafts for her parties. She has a gift for truly making everyone at her seasonal celebrations and potluck parties feel warm and – most certainly – welcome. This collection of recipes and crafts is a gift that keeps on giving year round.

3. Laura Cooke & Eva Magill-Oliver Collaboration | Ceramic Dinner Plate

I am slightly biased here because I played a part in its creation. But in all honesty, I’m so proud of how this collaboration turned out. Laura made beautifully hand thrown porcelain plates and mugs and I then created unique nature-inspired designs. They are perfect for serving guests or can be used as decorative pieces in the home.

4. Seaworthy Pdx | Belleza Earrings

I have been a huge fan of Seaworthy’s designer Marisa Howard for years. Her clean, modern, and classic creations/jewelry are not only visually appealing, but also complimentary to the female form. Especially these statement earrings, perfect for holiday parties and events and inspired by my rainbow series.

5. Radioactive Mushrooms | Oil Perfume

The name of this company is just as interesting and unique as its products. Creator Niji Lacsamana has developed some heavenly scents… my favorite being Mermaid, a blend of grapefruit, neroli, and lavender. All hand blended, vegan, and cruelty-free! Her packaging is also a work of art in itself.

6. Eva Magill-Oliver | Rainbow Series

This series started with a friend that was interested in a commission with an uplifting theme. I enjoyed the process of creating them so much, I decided to produce and offer a full series on my website. A great gift that I hope embodies the true spirit of the holidays.

7. Classic Specs | The Amherst Glasses in Tim Lahan’s Three-Way

Loving this traditional yet modern frame. A chic, translucent style frame like this one has been on my wish list for a while. I love how they achieve the difficult balance of making a statement while still allowing facial features to shine through.

8. Megan Huntz | Valentina Top

I recently met Megan after moving back to Atlanta and felt an immediate connection with her and her aesthetic. I was honestly in awe of her beautiful and non-traditional clothing designs. This Valentina top is structured, yet delicately feminine and an ideal piece for holiday festivities and beyond.
