“In the future, everyone will be world-famous for fifteen minutes…” – Andy Warhol
As you may have noticed, we’re huge fans of Andy Warhol. And it’s not just that he’s one of the fathers of the Pop Art movement or that he never took himself too seriously – it’s also that the man could so beautifully and effortlessly rock a pair of crystal glasses. In honor of what would have been Warhol’s 88th birthday today, we’ve picked some glasses that we think Warhol would love.
1. The Beacon in Dove Grey
They’re translucent and slightly oversized, just like Warhol’s trademark crystal frames. The Beacons are a bit rounded at the bottom, making them a great complement to his square jawline.
2. The Amherst in Tim Lahan’s Three Way
The closest to Warhol’s classic pair in our collection, we think he’d love the thicker crystal acetate in the frame of these glasses.
3. The Ashford in Whiskey Crystal
If you have bleach-blonde hair like Warhol, this golden-hued whiskey crystal shade will fit your personal color palette perfectly.
4. The Meritt in Moss Crystal
We’re not sure if Warhol would ever get tired of his translucent crystal pair – but if he ever did, we’d recommend this moss green pair. They’re a great way to stay on the crystal frame trend without being too much of a statement – although Warhol probably never worried about that too much.
5. The Bedford in Havana Tortoise
A general rule of thumb when it comes to choosing glasses? Contrast, contrast, contrast. Although Warhol breaks the rules by pairing his crystal pair with his almost-white hair, this pair would probably be one of our first recommendations to him – the havana tortoise color is the perfect contrast to his bleach-blonde hair.
